Ever since we launched BumpTop 1.0 last year, we’ve had people asking us when we were going to release a Mac version. Well, today we’re happy to say that the wait is over — say hello to BumpTop for Mac!
BumpTop for Mac is not just a port of our Windows version; it’s been re-written from the ground up to seamlessly integrate with Mac OS X features like Exposé and Quick Look. It’s got all the best features from the Windows version — piles, sticky notes, and icons that you can resize and pin to the walls. But we’ve also added some slick Mac-only features, like multi-touch trackpad gestures, and the new pile flipping functionality.
Well, what are you waiting for? Go download BumpTop for Mac. Just like on Windows, there’s a free version as well as a fully-featured Pro version for $29.

Does the Mac version support the Widgets?
I downloaded and installed the Mac version. Now after running it (it works), I am unable to stop the program and uninstall it! If I move the app bundle to Trash it says that the app is running. If I try to find it in Force Quit – it doesn’t even show up!
Please advise
Singa, in the menu bar at the top of your screen, there should be an icon that looks like a stack of papers. If you click it, the “Quit” button will be at the bottom of the resulting menu. To open BumpTop back up, just double click the BumpTop icon in your Applications folder.
Those “Mac-only” features like multi-touch trackpad gestures that were just introduced for Windows 7 users shortly before this post?
@D_B_S_1: No, the Mac version does not currently support widgets.
@Kevin: Actually, the multi-touch gestures on Windows 7 are completely different from the Mac trackpad gestures. The Windows multi-touch gestures are for touchscreens.
BumpTop team: Many of us use both Mac and PC. Can you create a bundle package for us cross-platform users or better yet, buy 1 get the other OS free? :)
@Ken The Pro version spans both Windows and BumpTop, so if you get a Mac Pro license, you can use it on Windows and vice versa.
I realize the Mac version just came out, but what does the feature roadmap look like? I see the Windows version has a lot more features than the Mac version. I just bought the Mac version and have been a little disappointed. It’s a great idea, but a bit shallow.
I’m in the same boat as Tim. Where’s the ability to fan stuff out or flip through piles (among the pretty big list of other differences)? Please – don’t let this be it!
@Tim @Jonathan You can flip through a pile if you upgrade to the Pro version, but we are not planning to support fanning out a pile unless there is significant demand for it, which there hasn’t been.
BumpTop Mac was re-written from scratch, so as we developed it we also dropped features that the Window version had that we found weren’t being heavily used, and instead concentrated on other features. We plan to release theme support, and to continue to listen to user requests and evolve the feature set based on that.
